looking for a safe liposuction clinic?

Safe Liposuction Clinics

Your Safety Is a Priority and Shouldn’t Be Taken for Granted

Traditional liposuction has evolved over the years into many new techniques and methods.

Tumescent liposuction has taken the place of the more traditional suction-assisted liposuction with less liposuction side effects, risks and dangers.  Tumescent liposuction can be performed without the use of a general anaesthetic and the skin incisions are considerably smaller as the cannulas used to suck the fat out are smaller as well.

The method of a mini liposuction uses lypolytic, which is a fat-liquefying chemical making the fat easier to remove. This is a much safer liposuction procedure as it only uses a local anaesthetic and therefore doesn’t carry the risks involved with a general anasthetic.

In addition to these methods, there are other alternatives to liposuction which are classed as non-surgical and are less invasive, such as Mesotherapy, Thermage, and LipoDissolve.

These new methods of liposuction are much safer and much quicker and are usually performed as an out-patient procedure, which means that the patient doesn’t need to spend the night in the hospital or clinic for observation.

It is because of this that many liposuction clinics are now developing.  A liposuction clinic is often smaller than a hospital environment, and it provides day care and out-patient procedures.  Generally speaking, a liposuction clinic is a private facility run by a surgeon or physician, specializing in a specific field of medicine, and supported by his team of health care professionals. Because there is an increase of liposuction clinics being set up and obviously this mean that many are new, how do you know which is the best one to choose?

Before answering that question, I shall outline the fairly recent changes in more conventional liposuction treatment.

Recent changes to liposuction treatment have made it much safer and a far quicker procedure, thus reducing the chances of potential risks and complications.  However, despite the fact that the opportunity for liposuction risks and dangers are fewer, there is still the possibility for complications.

Despite this small chance of a potential risk being involved with liposuction, it is still not worth taking the relatively low risk percentage as a done deal and the primary goal throughout the whole procedure, before, during and after, should be one of safety.

Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon Requirements

When choosing a reputable liposuction clinic, always check the credentials of the cosmetic surgeon at the clinic.  His background can help you determine whether or not your safety and well being is of the utmost importance before the liposuction procedure commences.   Always check that the liposuction clinic has a board-certified cosmetic surgeon available to perform the procedure.

The following is a list of requirements necessary to qualify a cosmetic surgeon as board-certified:

  • Minimum of 6 years surgery experience;
  • Trained and experienced in every cosmetic surgery procedure;
  • Has been evaluated for safety and ethical standards compliance;
  • Ensures the Conducts and Ethics Code is strictly adhered to;
  • Continually undergoes medical training and education;
  • Is board-certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgeons or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canade
  • And finally, that he only performs procedures in facilities that are ASPS accredited.

Not only the surgeons or physicians need to be accredited, the liposuction clinics themselves need to be as well.  So, when you are looking for a reputable liposuction clinic, check their credentials as well as those of the surgeon.

Cheap Liposuction Clinic

It is not always advisable to go for a cheap liposuction clinic, nor indeed the cheapest as things can go wrong in inexperienced and under-qualified hands and safety is crucial and should be your priority.
