What You Should Know About the Cost of Liposuction

Making the decision to have liposuction is a big step towards achieving the body you have always wanted and always dreamed of.

liposuction prices

When considering affordable liposuction procedures, it seems to be human nature to seek out the cheapest available, and often the hardest part of the search can be not knowing whether you were seen coming by what may seem an extremely high price tag, as the liposuction prices can vary dramatically.

However, whilst it may seem important to keep within your budget, it is more important to be aware of the potential complications involved when opting for the cheapest liposuction price or quote available.

Safe cheap liposuction is rare, so having some knowledge of the prices for liposuction procedures that you are likely to be quoted will help you make an educated decision as to whether you are either being taken advantage of if the price is too high, or whether the clinic is desperate for your business if the price is too low.

Why Do Liposuction Prices Vary?

Liposuction prices can be calculated in a number of different ways. Some surgeons will charge an hourly rate whilst others will calculate the cost of the procedure according to the amount of fat that needs to be removed from your body.

Another reason for differing prices of liposuction can be based on the number of sessions required for specific areas of the body, in order to achieve the best look that you desire. It is important to know beforehand whether the surgeon will charge for each session or whether each session is grouped under one complete price. Always check whether more than one session is required in order to attain the shape and contouring results you are after.

Another relevant factor that can increase liposuction prices, is the type of procedure you opt for. For example, tumescent liposuction is far higher in price than the more conventional suction-assisted liposuction technique.

It is very important to discover how each clinic or surgeon calculates the price of liposuction cost.

Having some knowledge of what you will be expected to pay for the liposuction procedure that you are interested in can be highly beneficial. Unless you have been recommended to a particular surgeon and you want to stick to them, then it can be in your best interests, cost wise, to “shop around” and discover whether you are likely to fit into the low end or the high end of the scale.

For example, if you are just looking for a small procedure treating a relatively small area, then you should expect to pay approximately $2,000. However, for larger areas or multiple areas, prices can reach up to $10,000.

Negotiate a Deal

It can be in your best interests to decide beforehand whether or not you are planning to have more than one liposuction procedure. If you are, then it may be possible to negotiate a discount. Liposuction prices vary dependent on the size of the area to be treated and whether they are to be combined with other surgery at the same time. However, professional and ethical surgeons may prefer to treat one area at a time, allowing for recovery time in between procedure dates. Discount liposuction is always a possibility, and as they say, “no harm in asking”!

Approximate Prices of Liposuction:

The following liposuction prices are approximate but can give you a rough idea of what you can expect to pay to treatment on each area, however you should be aware that there are additional costs on top of these:

Neck, Chin, Jowls and Cheeks, Chin : $2,500 – $5,500

Abdomen, upper and lower : $3,000 – $8,000

Abdomen, lower : $2,500 – $5,000

Hips and Waist : $2,500 – $6,000

Back : $2,000 – $4,000

Breasts (Female) : $3,500 – $8,000

Upper Arms : $2,000 – $5,000

Buttocks : $2,000 – $5,000

Outer Thighs : $2,000 – $5,000

Inner Thighs and Knees : $2,000 – $5,000

Anterior Thighs and Knees : $2,000 – $5,000

Additional liposuction costs involved on top of these approximate prices are, for example: anaesthetist fees, lab fees, medication and specific compression garments.

And further costs still can be incurred, dependent on the method of liposuction procedure chosen. Conventional liposuction usually uses a general anaesthetic and will undoubtedly involve an overnight stay in the clinic or hospital. Whereas, because both tumescent liposuction and ultrasonic-assisted liposuction only require a local anaesthetic, an overnight stay is unnecessary, and is therefore less expensive.

These prices for liposuction procedures should only be used as a guide. Costs can vary considerably, and are often dependent on where you live, the hospital or clinic you have chosen and the reputation and demand of the surgeon.

Many factors can influence the prices of liposuction and as I said before they can vary from surgeon to surgeon, but it is wise to do your homework and make sure that you are fully aware of absolutely everything to do with the price of liposuction procedure that you have chosen.

Financing Your Liposuction Procedure

So, you have chosen your clinic and you have decided on the right surgeon for your procedure, but now you are wondering where the money is going to come from. But there is help available to assist with paying for your surgery.

Your first choice could be to put the liposuction costs on your credit card. If your card has a credit limit that is high enough, with a relatively low interest rate, then this could be the perfect answer, allowing you to pay for your surgery in monthly installments.

A further option would be to use ‘in-house’ credit from the cosmetic surgery clinic itself as they often have their own credit companies. If however, they don’t offer in-house credit, they will often have cosmetic care credit packages available, which allows you to apply for the required funding necessary to cover the liposuction costs. Many of these packages will allow you to make between 12 and 48 monthly installments until the loan is cleared.

Although affordable prices of liposuction are of the critical to each individual, it is even more important to find a surgeon with a good reputation, excellent experience and a particular level of expertise in your specific choice of procedure.

So, whilst the liposuction pricing that you are prepared to pay is relevant, your health should be your defining choice – after all, you are investing in yourself and your future.
