How Effective is Upper Arm Liposuction?
How Effective is Upper Arm Liposuction?
Arm liposuction is a procedure that many people find beneficial, particularly if they are insecure about the way their upper arms look.
Many women have a lack of confidence about their upper arms, because of the loose, baggy and sometimes hanging excess skin that has developed over the years at the back of the upper arm area.
Previously, more traditional methods of cosmetic surgery didn’t do a great deal to help this particular problem, and the more traditional suction-assisted liposuction removed the fat from the backs of the upper arms, but then it left the problem of excess amounts of loose saggy skin and anything big like an arm lift, whereby a large amount of arm fat was cut away, left ugly and conspicuous scarring.
However, more recent progress in liposuction procedures has solved both of these problems. Nowadays, arm liposuction is a much faster, and more effective way to create attractive arms to match the rest of the toned upper body in a relatively painless manner.
Ideal Upper Arm Liposuction Candidates
Ideal candidates for upper arm liposuction should be no more than a maximum of 15 pounds overweight, although some arm liposuction patients won’t actually have a weight issue at all.
A prerequisite for excellent results of the procedure are for the individual to have good skin elasticity which will shrink and re-contour around the reduced area, without any excess wrinkling or sagging, following the procedure. This is actually the one major factor to a successful upper arm liposuction procedure, because the removal of excess fat can leave unsightly loose skin.
Liposuction is designed to remove small fatty deposits and is certainly not meant for individuals who are obese. It treats specific problem areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Upper Arm Liposuction Surgery
The unsightly flabby folds of excess upper arm skin are made up more of tissue and skin rather than just plain old fat and some of the newer alternatives to liposuction such as laser liposuction, which are able to not only liquefy and dissolve fat, but tighten the excess skin too, work extremely well for this problem area.
During the upper arm liposuction procedure, a tiny cannula is inserted into the skin, and the fat below the surface of the skin is dissolved and removed via suction through this cannula. The skin surrounding the incision is then tightened before the surgeon applies sutures to the wound.
This arm liposuction procedure can take between 1 and 2 hours and is generally performed under local anaesthetic. Both swelling and scarring in this area are minimal.
Recovery from Upper Arm Liposuction Surgery
Following upper arm liposuction surgery, you will feel a little sore or tender and bruised. It is advisable to rest your arms for several days, and it will be a few weeks before you feel back to normal.
It is necessary to wear compression garments that are known as compression sleeves, for a period of about four weeks following your liposuction procedure. These sleeves wrap around your upper arm to hold the treated area and the incision in place.
As mentioned above, there will be some bruising and swelling to the area, but this will diminish more quickly if you continue to wear the compression sleeves religiously.
Scars will fade to almost invisible.
Flab on the underside of the upper arm affects many people, primarily adults, but even those who are fit and exercise regularly.
Arm liposuction is a form of fat removal that is popular with both sexes, but generally more women than men opt for the procedure.
