Whether your skin type is Mediterranean or Nordic, the basic principles of skincare are the same, the difference lies in the details.

Skin type Morning Night
DRY 1. Splash face with water or gently and lightly stroke with a cotton wool pad soaked with non-alcohol based toner.

2. Pat dry.

3. Apply moisturising daily sunscreen (minimum SPF15-20) to face and neck.

1. Wash face with rinse-off, non-soap cleanser (milk or gel).

2. Pat dry.

3. If using AHA or retinoid, apply now. Wait ten minutes for active preparations to penetrate. Apply moisturising/nourishing night cream to face.

NORMAL 1. Wash face with non-soap cleanser. 

 




2. Pat dry.

3. Apply moisturising daily sunscreen (min SPF15-20) to face and neck.

1. Wash face with rinse-off, non-soap cleanser (milk or gel).

2. Pat dry.

3. If using AHA or retinoid, apply now. Wait ten minutes.

If skin still feels dry, apply moisturising / nourishing night cream.

COMBINATION 1. Wash T-zone only with non-soap cleanser or remove nose, chin or forehead grease with a toner-soaked cotton pad (one with a low alcohol content is fine). 

 




2. Pat dry.

3. Apply oil-free daily sunscreen (minimum SPF 15-20) and if needed, a richer moisturizer to any dry areas.

1. Wash with rinse-off, non-soap cleanser (gel rather than milk).

2. Pat dry.

3. If using AHA or retinoid, apply now. Wait ten minutes for active preparations to penetrate.

4. Apply moisturising/nourishing night cream, if necessary, to dry areas such as cheeks and around the eyes.

OILY 1 Wash face with oily skin specific non-soap cleanser.

2. Pat dry.

3 Apply oil-free daily sunscreen (minimum SPF15-20) to face and neck.

1. Wash face with soap or oily skin specific non-soap cleanser

2. If necessary, use alcohol-based toner.

3. Apply AHA or retinoid preparation.

(Moisturizer is probably not required, except perhaps over cheeks and neck).
