Popular with both men and women, abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck and sometimes as cosmetic surgery tummy tuck, is the most effective way to recontour and reshape unwanted accumulations of excess fat and loose saggy skin in the abdominal region.abdominoplasty tummy tuck

The procedure is designed to dramaticly trim down an unwanted pouch, to give a smoother shape to the abdomen, reduce the appearance of the stretch marks and improve over all body contour.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will thoroughly discuss the changes that you require to make in your appearance, and he will carefully evaluate the unique characteristics of your abdominal region.  This will allow him to determine the best course of treatment to achieve your goals.

In short, a tummy tuck consists of a strategic incision placed in the lower abdominal region.  The abdominal muscles are then pulled and stitched closer together to provide a firmer abdominal wall and slimmer waist line.  Excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is stretched down to its new tighter position and sutured into place.

When performing the procedure the consultant will use surgical techniques which allow him to create the smallest incision possible and strategically place the incision as discreetly as possible so that any visible scarring will be covered by a standard bikini.

Following a tummy tuck procedure many patients have gone on to experience a transformation in how they feel about themselves and to enjoy their more youthful new figure and physique.

If you are tired of fighting the battle of the bulge, an abdominoplasty tummy tuck may be the perfect solution to eliminate your stubborn abdominal areas and leave you with a lean, flat more well defined mid-section.

Tummy Tuck Before and After Stories – Kim and Kristel’s Stories

Kim’s Cosmetic Surgery Tummy Tuck Story:

Kim’s experience before abdominoplasty surgery:tummy tuck before and after

“I decided to have a tummy tuck procedure because I was not seeing results with working out and diet and exercise.  I mean I’d like to see my body as it once was before I had children and I would like to see my body again as it was when I was about 18 years old.

I am in the acting and modelling industry so it will definitely open up a lot more doors for me and surgery will hopefully have a very good impact, and to just give me more opportunities to just kind of feel more comfortable and more confident with my body.”

“My friends and family have reacted very well to all of the changes that have been made and they’re just full of compliments every time they see me.  They are so happy to see that I am a lot happier and a lot more confident.

I think I was more scared and nervous than I really needed to be.  It wasn’t that bad at all.  My family and my mum were there to help me, and obviously you know, just baby me back to my health and um, just the doctor being available any time on his cellphone, and the staff as well provided all the medication.  And just coming in and the doctor just checking on me, making sure everything was great, again just made me feel a lot more comfortable.

I have been doing acting and modelling for about 10 years, and now it has given me a lot more opportunities, just because my body obviously looks a lot better, for just my confidence, I have a lot more energy and I have a desire to just get out there and work a lot more, and to try to just stay busy and I am a lot more motivated everyday so I’m very happy.”

Kristel’s Cosmetic Tummy Tuck Story:

“I had my tummy tuck 17 days ago, so basically ever since then I have just been recovering, and today is the first day I have actually got up and got dressed and been able to walk around.

For literally the first eight days I did not get out of my chair, like once only to go to the bathroom, and I did that as little as I had to because it was so painful, and like my mum had to help me up to the bathroom so it was was really bad.

It is not a fun recovery at all.

On the first day they gave me a drug to help with the pain but it made me throw up three times and imagine, I had just had a tummy tuck to tighten my abs and everything and then I was throwing up.

Incredibly painful and I couldn’t walk straight, I’m still a little tiny bit hunched over.  It’s very very painful.

Arguably I would say that one of the hardest parts of it is actually sitting in one spot for so long.  My butt got so sore and so numb, and I was in so much pain that still, even though I am not sitting on it as much, but I’m still recovering from that because if I sit down for about 5 minutes I’m in pain again.  That has to be the most difficult part.  Seriously – try sitting in one spot for about eight days – you don’t want to do it. Very hard.

My tummy tuck is taped up because for two months I have to have it taped, and up until today I have been wearing a girdle thing like, all day.  I will probably have to wear it through the night and then stop wearing it tomorrow altogether if I want, but I still might wear it during the day because it makes me feel good – it makes you feel like so good becuase it makes you feel like you’re tight and healing so I still might wear that sometimes but for most part, I don’t have to any more.

Right, so my tummy is a lot flatter now. Basically, the cut goes all the way up to just under my bra, and it goes down and around my belly button so they cut around it then further down and out to each side of my hips, to here and to here.  Now it’s healing really well so far.  When I took off the tape earlier it was looking so much better, there is no scabbing and the incision looked really small and neat.

I found a tiny indent on my left side which I think is where one of the drains went, so I’m hoping that it will even out a little a bit, but otherwise I am extremely happy because I am basically flat here on my stomach.

They cut a huge triangle out of me and they pulled me this way and then this way and sewed me all up.  The horizontal incision is a little bit higher than I was hoping for it to be because you can see that my underwear is below the incision and doesn’t really go up over it, but the surgeon said depending on how your skin is and where my fold of skin is that you have to cut along that and that’s why the incision is up a little higher.  Honestly though I don’t care, I would rather have a scar that is visible then what I used to have and I have no regrets so far, like I am completely happy even though the scar is a little bit higher than I wanted it, but I don’t care.

I had three drains for about six days, and those suck.  After a few days they are just sewn on by like twine and they are just like tubes going into your abdomen.  If you move them at all they get really irritated and painful, so I was so happy to get those out, and they were just really difficult you couldn’t wear certain clothes because you had to pull them over the tubes, really not fun.

So I am a little bit hunched over at the moment, but I’m really happy with it so far because instead of having an extra huge flap of skin on my stomach it just goes down and is flat now.  My stomach is a little bit swollen still, I believe that it should be going down sometime soon because it’s been almost three weeks since I had the operation and it took up to two weeks for most of it to go away, but the last 10% of swelling can take a whole year to go down.  But I guess if I get a bit more active the swelling will return and if I’m not active it will go down so it is really hard to say where exactly I’m going to be at, but I’m totally happy so far.

The only thing that I am a little concerned about though is that I have a little bit of an indent on my left hip from where the drain was, so I’m hoping that that will even out, but even if it doesn’t I’d rather have that than what I did have.

I have gone down in size in my shirts and in my jeans, and whilst my old ones still fit me, they look better than they did, but I still think I could go down a size.

Lastly, I just wanted to say that where they did my tummy tuck, they tightened my abs where they stitched them together, they stitched them tightly and it’s something that will never come out and they will always be there.  So I think that is really cool because if you push on my stomach it now feels quite tight, and there is not a lot of flab there or anything, which I’m really excited about.

And also my weight is now 173.8 which I am totally happy about but I didn’t really want to say what my weight was, because at my lowest before the surgery I was 174 but I wasn’t doing very well before the surgery.

There would have been a week like when I was doing great but most of the time I didn’t, which is my fault but I’m so happy with that weight.

Also the day of my surgery, I was 184 something, and they only took off about four and a half pounds, which at first I was shocked to hear because I thought it would be more than that, but whatever, so technically I should only be about 180 lbs, but from sitting non-stop and eating like whenever, whatever and not moving very much at all i’m down to 173.  So I’m totally happy about that, my goal is 160.

But I already love my new tummy and it’s not even healed yet, and it’s like only 17 days since I had my abdominoplasty procedure. I’ll have to get pictures of my tummy tuck before and after for you.”
